DC Solar - Solar Power Trailer Upgrade
We installed a completely new electrical system to compliment this DC Solar solar power trailer. This customer came to us with a DC Solar solar power trailer she had recently purchased used that wasn’t functional. Upon diagnosing, we found that the factory inverter/chargers were no longer functional. We removed the dual-inverter/chargers and replaced with a single Victron Energy Quattro inverter/charger system that can deliver 5000VA @ 120VAC using the existing on-board 48VDC battery bank and added a Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 250/100-Tr VE.Can Solar Charge Controller. We installed an Orion-Tr 48|12-30 (30A) DC-DC charger programmed in ‘Power Supply’ mode to step down the 48VDC to a usable 12VDC for powering all the low voltage electrical components including added lighting in the forward equipment cabinet. We configured the new inverter/charger and solar charge controller for the existing adjustable solar arrays and battery bank. We added generator back-up capability along with a Victron Cerbo GX and Touch 50 touchscreen controls with cellular hotspot capability so the customer can operate and monitor the unit remotely via the Victron VRM cloud service. We installed an exterior 30A RV shore power output connection to allow the customer to use the trailer for powering RV travel trailers and tiny homes in a remote off-grid community. A dedicated area was left open within the equipment cabinet for expansion providing the ability to install one additional Victron Energy Quattro 5000VA inverter/charger should the customer need additional power in the future.
This trailer was outfitted with the following components to provide power in support of fulltime off-grid RV camping and tiny home living:
Victron Energy Quattro 48/5000/70-100/100 120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger
Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT 250/100-Tr VE.Can Solar Charge Controller
