This project is a complete solar, battery and inverter installation allowing this customer to venture out into the wilderness with their brand new Grand Design travel trailer without having to worry about their electrical usage. For this project we installed the Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 (50A) Charge Controller, 4x ZS 170 Solar Panels w/ Rocker Mounts and Victron BMV-712 Battery Monitor w/ Temp Sensor. We installed a Roof Combiner Box along with dedicated roof RV disconnect. The ZS 170 solar panels were attached to the roof with adjustable rocker mounts, all internal exposed wiring was covered using split loom tubing as-required and all roof penetrations were sealed using Dicor sealant. We replaced the single OE house battery with 2x LifeBlue 12v 200ah Low Temp lithium batteries installed in the forward pass-through housed and secured inside a custom fabricated battery storage box. We installed a Victron Multiplus 3000VA Inverter w/ Digital Multi Control along with dedicated fuse and high/low voltage service disconnects. To protect the entire system we installed a hardwired Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C Electrical Management System w/ Monitor. In addition, we installed a dedicated 30A accessory fuse panel in the forward pass-through on the passenger side coupled to a USB power port installed on the passenger side of the bed as requested by customer that has ample room to support any accessories they add in the future.
We are certain that this complete system will more than satisfy the needs of this customer no matter where they roam in their new home on wheels.
