2017 Forest River Forester 2501TS
For this Forest River Class C RV, we removed the OE Zamp solar charge controller and replaced with a Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100|50 (50A) Charge Controller, 3x ZS170 (170w) Zamp Solar Panels and Victron BMV-712 Battery Monitor w/ temp sense. We connected the existing Zamp solar panel into the new solar system (total PV capability: approximately 680w). We covered exposed wiring with split loom tubing as-required and sealed all roof penetrations using Dicor self-leveling sealant. Additional sealant was applied around skylight, fan/vents, ladder mounts and the existing OE solar panel where existing sealant coverage was inadequate and/or shrinking which is something that we normally offer to our customers if we see any potential leak issues. We installed a Victron Multiplus 12/3000/120-50 120V VE.Bus Inverter/Charger w/ remote monitor and new 30A main panel. Additionally, we installed a Progressive Industries EMS (Electrical Management System) and replaced the existing house batteries w/ 4x Lifeline GPL-31XT 125ah 12V AGM batteries. A 15A 120VAC GFCI receptacle was also installed in the rear pass-through per the customer’s request.
This customer plans to do a lot of dry camping with their kids and the system we installed for them will provide years of service without any hassle. That’s what it’s all about! Freedom and the open road powered by the sun!
